About the Artist
Originally from Brunswick, Ohio in 1998 Jeannette moved to Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania to work for the summer as a river guide for Laurel Highlands River Tours. Falling in love with the beauty that Pennsylvania has to offer she decided to transfer to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where she graduated with Honors. “Time moves on and so do people and after awhile I found myself moving from Pennsylvania to West Virginia, then Cumberland, Maryland but I always return to Ohiopyle and to Ohio. I feel very fortunate to consider so many places my home.”
Jeannette has won numerous awards; most recently she won the ‘Best of Show’ in the regional AAA photo contest. Her photographs have been featured in calendars and brochures; she has been accepted in several juried art exhibits and has had two featured artist shows at Arts at Canal Place. In 2007 the Allegany Area Art Alliance awarded Jeannette a scholarship to attend a workshop in Maine with wildlife photographer Mark Picard. “I was blessed with breath taking scenery and abundant wildlife throughout the trip. I watched (and photographed) a deer frolicking in the lake at dawn, a mother moose with her twin calves and countless other amazing sights before journeying down the coast in search of Puffins and Seals.”
Great Blue Heron Photography Workshop
“I have decided to share one of Ohio’s best kept secrets; the Great Blue Heron Rookery. Weekends from April through June I will be offering half day workshops during which we will be photographing Great Blue Herons and a variety of other wildlife such as beaver, muskrats, deer, numerous birds, geese, snakes and so on.” Various images from the area where we will be photographing may be viewed under the 'Great Blue Heron Workshop' category. Please email me at jeannettehunt@hotmail.com if you have any questions.
Of the Water, On the Water Workshop
This workshop is a unique opportunity to photograph a whitewater river from the water instead of the shore giving your images the look of being in the middle of things instead of a spectator’s point of view. “We will be spending the day on the water, photographing waterfalls, kayakers as well as the beautiful river.” For more information click on the 'Workshop Brochures' category to view and print the brochure.
